How the Bristol City Youth Council election works.
Young people in schools, colleges and youth centres across Bristol vote in the members of Bristol City Youth Council for a 2 year term of office.
Young people must be 11 to 18 years old to stand.

September 2025
- Promotion in schools and youth organisations
October 2025
- Nominations open (young people asked to fill out application form)
- Two information evenings about the Bristol City Youth Council and the Bristol Youth Elections
November 2025
- Nominations close and application forms are compiled into manifestos
- Young people are asked to create a campaign video with filming session offered
December 2025
- Candidate info goes live on Bristol City Council website
January 2026
- Election packs delivered to schools and youth organisations
- Two week voting period
- Candidate check in session during voting period
February 2026
- Election count day
- Election result evening
- Bristol City Youth Council begin their term of office
